Skills can earn and pay bills and then some.
Here's a great piece on Yahoo Finance regarding strong employment, good economy, and a expanding middle class. It's about the skills. Not the jobs.
Now this is relevant to me. A year ago I was a cabinet maker. I enjoyed the job but I saw it more as a hobby I got paid doing, albeit not that much. During the year I spent working in the shop I collected some good practice and skills that won't be applicable outside of the woodworking realm.
I knew I need a good direction. So I took some money out of savings and enrolled in a few IT classes. Obviously this is a career path with a great outlook. And the pay is promising too. One of my better decisions.
